Effective 1 de enero de 2020, BCBSRI will become the insurer for all State of Rhode Island employees. These employees will be on a plan referred to as the “Anchor Plan." Below is a quick overview of the Anchor Plan:

• Employees enrolled in the Anchor Plan will require a PCP referral to see most specialists.
• When a member fails to obtain a referral they will still be covered; however, they will pay a higher copay.
• Referrals should be administered as they are today for BCBSRI, leveraging HealthTrio or the online form.
• All providers participating in the Blue network are included in the State’s coverage.
