Beginning 5 de febrero de 2024, BCBSRI will no longer require a Notice of Admission for the following services:
- Intensive Outpatient (mental health and/or substance use disorder)
- Child and Family Intensive Treatment (CFIT)
- Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA)
- Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation (TMS)
This change will apply to both in-network and out-of-network requests for the above services for Commercial and Medicare Advantage Plans only. Note: for Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) and Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation (TMS) requests, diagnosis requirements for clinical appropriateness will still apply.
As a reminder, the Federal Employee Program (FEP) is exempt from the Notification of Admission process. A medical necessity review is still required for the following in-network behavioral health services:
- Inpatient Mental Health
- Inpatient Withdrawal Management
- Residential Treatment Center (mental health and/or substance use disorder)
- Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA)
- Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation (TMS)
