New in-home substance use disorder treatment partner: Aware Recovery Care

BCBSRI is pleased to announce that we have partnered with Aware Recovery Care to provide in-home substance use disorder treatment to members.

Aware Recovery Care provides medically integrated substance use disorder treatment in the home with minimal disruption to work and family life. They offer members easy access to 24/7 admissions and individualized treatment, plus a medication-assisted treatment (MAT)-integrated mobile care team that provides in-home withdrawal management and services.

The client-centered treatment plan is especially unique, as a hybrid of both virtual and in-home visits by in-home addiction treatment (IHAT) practitioners is used to deliver care. Aware Recovery Care recognizes that addiction is a family disease, meaning that addiction can affect loved ones as much as the recovering individual. This model allows family to be involved in the treatment process through regular family sessions and wellness consultations with a licensed family system therapist.

Aware Recovery Care provides the following services for BCBSRI members:

  • Evaluation
    • Behavioral and medical assessments
  • Medication management
    • Ambulatory detox APRN or MD and/or MAT induction
  • Ambulatory detox
    • Ambulatory detox APRN or MD and/or MAT induction
  • SUD in-home recovery program (High intensity)
    • Individual, multidisciplinary substance use disorder treatment. Place of service/home. Medical and BH care coordination, individual therapy, family therapy, peer support, tox screen, registered dietitian.
  • SUD in-home recovery program (Medium intensity)
    • Individual, multidisciplinary substance use disorder treatment. Place of service/home. Medical and BH Care coordination, individual therapy, family therapy, peer support, tox screen, registered dietitian.

To date, their programs have demonstrated:

  • 80.42% reduction in ER admissions during treatment
  • 6% reduction in PMPM for medical claims six months post-treatment
  • 25% reduction in PMPM for BH claims six months post-treatment
  • 72.59% reduction in IP admits one-year post-treatment
