This month’s Hints for HEDIS includes an informative refresher on the Colorectal Cancer Screening (COL) measure.

Measure Overview: The percentage of members 50-75 years of age who had an appropriate screening for colorectal cancer. The following screenings are appropriate for this measure:

Helpful reminder: Do not count digital rectal exams (DRE), or FOBT tests performed in an office setting or performed on a sample collected via DRE. Measurement period for COL measurement year 2022 are as follows:

Helpful reminder: Physician order for a FIT-DNA test alone will not close this gap – only a collection date or test result date will close this gap.
