Communication is key during COVID-19

As the COVID-19 pandemic continues, one thing has remained – BCBSRI is committed to our members, our participating providers, and our community. Our focus is to ensure our members stay healthy and continue to have access to the care they need, and to that end, we’ve taken several measures over the last few months to make significant medical policy changes. These include, most notably, expanding coverage of telemedicine services with no cost share, waiving member copays and cost sharing for diagnostic testing related to COVID-19, and allowing all nationally recognized modifiers.

As our healthcare partners, it’s important that you remain involved in the ongoing conversation, which is changing all the time. Communication is vitally important right now. Obviously with this amount of change comes questions. That’s why we began holding calls with our participating providers in late March, to field questions related to coverage and policies regarding COVID-19.

While their frequency has changed—initially calls were three times per week, are currently weekly, and will be biweekly in June—the purpose and outcome of the calls has not. They are designed to share regular updates on COVID-19 policies and information with our providers. We solicit questions prior to the calls, and via Webex during the calls.

Participation has been great (thank you!), and for your reference, we maintain a running list of questions and answers generated from the calls on the Provider page of bcbsri.com in the COVID-19 section. We’ve collected hundreds of questions and answers, so chances are good you’ll find what you’re looking for in the document. You’ll also find a link to the COVID-19 Provider Resource Guide.

But of course, as always, if you have any other questions or concerns, our Physician and Provider Call Center  team is ready to help. Just call us at (401) 274-4848 or 1-800-230-9050, Monday – Friday, 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

A continued “Thank you"

You and all of our healthcare providers continue to do extraordinary work right now. From all of us at BCBSRI, we wanted to thank you once again for everything you’re doing to keep Rhode Island safe – we are extremely proud to call you our partners in healthcare, and in our community.
