BCBSRI offers LGBTQ Safe Zone certification

BCBSRI encourages its participating providers to collaborate with us in supporting LGBTQ communities. Our goal is to help identify safe healthcare spaces with protections against discrimination and differential treatment, as well as inclusive policies & procedures.

BCBSRI welcomes all healthcare provider sites, including specialist offices and facilities, to pursue LGBTQ Safe Zone certification.

Healthcare settings that meet specific criteria are designated as LGBTQ Safe Zones and receive BCBSRI identification, including a customized plaque and a window cling to mark your office as a Safe Zone.

As of 20 de julio21, more than 30 providers and other community-based organizations in Rhode Island have been LGBTQ Safe Zone certified:

 

3 health centers:

• Thundermist Health Center, Tri-County Community Action Agency Health Center, and Providence Community Health Centers.

 

3 dental clinics:

Thundermist Health Center of Woonsocket, South County, and West Warwick

 

7 behavioral health providers:

Jessica Peipock, LICSW; Jayna Klatzker, LICSW; Frank J. Canino, PhD; Laurie Thornton, MA, CAGS, LMHC; PVD Psychological Associates; LifeSpan Physician Group Adult Gender & Sexuality Behavioral Health; Wilder Therapy & Wellness
