PROVIDENCE, RI – Blue Cross & Blue Shield of Rhode Island (BCBSRI) has announced the election of John C. Langenus to the role of chairman of the nonprofit health insurer’s board of directors. Langenus, who has served on the BCBSRI board since 2013, brings an extensive background in health insurance to his role. Langenus has held leadership roles at a number of healthcare organizations including Anthem, Inc., Coventry Healthcare, Evolution Benefits and CIGNA.
Langenus, who received his MBA from the University of Hartford and his bachelor’s degree from Rutgers University, currently serves on the board of Embold Health in Nashville. He is also a former member of the United States Marine Corps.
