Blue Cross seeks community partners for Blue across Rhode Island

BCBSRI seeks proposals for 14th annual Blue across Rhode Island on Sept. 12

PROVIDENCE, R.I. — Blue Cross & Blue Shield of Rhode Island is seeking applications from community-based organizations interested in participating in Blue across Rhode Island, a companywide day of service to be held on Friday, Sept. 12.

While BCBSRI employees volunteer their time to support the community throughout the year, Blue across Rhode Island is a special one-day, annual event when associates are encouraged to use the entire workday to take part in planned volunteer activities around the state. Every year, several hundred employees fan out across Rhode Island in organized teams to support projects designed in collaboration with community organizations.

Organizations that would like to host a team of volunteers for this year’s Blue across Rhode Island are invited to submit a proposal that aligns with BCBSRI’s mission to improve the health and well-being of all Rhode Islanders.

“Our local nonprofits provide essential services to Rhode Island’s residents, and we are deeply committed to supporting them," said Carolyn Belisle, vice president of corporate social responsibility. “During Blue across Rhode Island, our employees work alongside these organizations to contribute to a healthier Rhode Island. We’re looking forward to their proposals for our 14th annual Blue across Rhode Island."

To apply or learn more, visit www.cybergrants.com/BCBSRI/BARI or contact BlueAngel.News@bcbsri.org. Applications are due by 5 p.m. on Friday, 25 de abril.

Organizations must have tax-exempt 501(c)(3) status to qualify for Blue across Rhode Island.

Since the launch of Blue across Rhode Island in 2012, BCBSRI employees have given 40,000 volunteer hours at such projects as building housing, packing fresh foods, painting community spaces, and sorting donations. These projects have positively impacted more than 205,000 Rhode Islanders.

Since its inception, BCBSRI has prioritized relationships with community organizations through philanthropy, partnership and volunteer service. For the past 25 years, these efforts have been coordinated through its BlueAngel Community Investment program. Blue across Rhode Island is a key event within this program.
