Your clients can promote wellness—and earn back premium dollars

Everyone wins with the Winter Wellness Step Challenge

For 2020, resolve to help your small group clients save on medical premiums while promoting a little healthy competition. Wellness Premium Reward is a valuable benefit available at no added cost to employers. Employees simply download the Virgin Pulse app, register, and complete healthy activities (tracking steps, reading daily health tips) to earn wellness points—which, in turn, qualifies them for a quarterly cash payment. And when employees are registered and earning wellness points, employers are on their way to earning up to 8% back on their annual medical premium.

To encourage more small businesses to participate, BCBSRI will kick off a Winter Wellness Step Challenge in February. Here’s how it will work:

  • Employee teams will compete against other groups to achieve the highest average step count.
  • The winning group earns 1,000 Virgin Pulse points per employee (remember, points = quarterly cash payments), plus a catered lunch—including their favorite broker, of course!
  • The top 10 groups after that will receive 500 Virgin Pulse points per employee.

Get your clients interested and involved:

  • Promote the benefits of Wellness Premium Reward to employer and employees.
  • Encourage clients to get their employees registered on Virgin Pulse, and to sync their wearable fitness devices (or even their smartphones) to track steps.

BCBSRI will keep your clients and their teams informed throughout the challenge.

  • All employees who register with the Virgin Pulse app will receive an invite in late January to join the February step challenge.
  • BCBSRI will send an email announcing the challenge to your clients, as well as a final results email.
  • Employees will receive weekly progress reports from Virgin Pulse showing their personal and team rankings.
  • The winners will be announced in 20 de marzo20.
